Thirteen Golden Seniors Award of Merit recipients from past years gathered last summer to select honorees for 2016. Meeting at the Espanol Italian Restaurant were (first row, L-R) Hank Fontes, Ken Wollenberg, George Hodsdon, Dante Ciardella, Enoch Benson and Lou Coppola. (Standing, L-R) Henry Low, Pete Ward, Jim Lortz, Dave Vargo, Ernie Kidwell, Tom Sansone and Ron Roach. The award recipients, announced at the September picnic, were Cloicec Wade and Freddie Miller.
Several revisions or clarifications to club Playing Rules for 2016 have been adopted by the Board of Directors. Club Commissioner Bobby Ellison noted that the rules do not apply the 90-minute time limit to league championship games of the three 70-and-older leagues. The “flip-flop” rule for one-sided games is also clarified, as are the tie-breaker and courtesy runner rules.
Ellison said the revisions were not significant enough to merit a reprinting of the rule book. The revisions and clarifications are provided here:
